I had a thought back when I first saw Yuya and Yuzu’s parents that they - and the rest of the counterparts - might have been adopted (or orphans like Rin and Yugo if no one took them in) because even taking into account anime genetics, they looked too different in my opinion to be related. Plus Yugioh does do the whole physical attributes show familial ties - like Yugi and his grandpa, Yusei and his dad, Yuma and his dad, Shark and Rio, the Tyler sister now, etc. I’m still not entirely convinced Yuzu isnt adopted but I think it’s safe to say Yuya gets his looks from his dad.
